The Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce, Department for International Trade and Egyptian British Business Council have the pleasure to invite you to join us at a Breakfast Briefing with Egypt's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, HE Prof. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, at 08.45am for a 9am start on Wednesday 20 November, in the Sovereigns Room of the RAF Club at 128 Piccadilly, London W1J 7PY.
In 2018, Egypt signed an MoU with the UK with the aim to facilitate the establishment of branches in Egypt for leading British universities. In July that year, the law permitting the establishment of branches of foreign universities was passed by Parliament, and in August of the same year the law was issued with a presidential decree; since then a number of new high-profile UK/Egypt education partnerships have been created.
Egypt’s vision is to make the country a regional hub of excellence in the field of higher education and scientific research. Education is considered a priority sector for development following the completion of Egypt’s IMF-backed economic reform programme. Egypt’s young population and rapid urban expansion further creates significant opportunities for UK higher education institutions to establish a presence in Egypt.
